It has been hot around here and we've been spending a lot of time in the pool. Carter started swimming lessons last month and had a bit of a rocky start. He was nervous in the water and wanted nothing to do with blowing bubbles, let alone going under. In the last couple of weeks we've had a total transformation. He's a fish these days, or as he would put it, "I'm just Carter shark. A friendly shark."
We got him a PFD/swimmies combo and once he got used to it, ("the arms are too tight!") he got a lot more comfortable in the water. Now he paddles and kicks himself all over the pool, and he loves to race. "I'm going to beat you!"
We've had a great time swimming with friends like Aunt Sue.
Did I mention that Marni is here? She is, and she's been helping keep us sane. (Having an extra set of hands in that coming-home-from-work time is so key!) Carter loves it of course and they can occasionally be found immersed in their reading devices of choice...
Overall he's a pretty happy guy these days. He's gotten over having a new little sister and often he's downright helpful.
Now, speaking of happy...Tamsin has been cheerful as well. She's changing all the time. We think she is a little more vocal than Carter was at this age. She coos and ahs and laughs. She's got a very expressive little face and lets us know quickly if something isn't quite to her liking. We've managed to get her on something resembling a schedule with mostly solid morning and afternoon naps and a solid 8:30 to 6:30 overnight schedule. Gotta love a good night's sleep.
