Thank you!!
I just wanted to say thank you for all the comments and emails about the blog. Even though we started the blog mostly to help us remember and document Carter's adventures, it kind of changed into making sure all of our faraway family and friends stay updated and feel closer. Seeing the comments and emails help us to remember it's not just for us anymore and there's a greater purpose of keeping our families bonded to Carter - something very important to us!! So thanks again for reading, lurking, and commenting when you can!!

Uh Oh, He's Self Propelled
We had a good thing going for a while... you could put him down in the middle of the floor with some toys and he would just stay there.
Not anymore.
Not anymore.
Blueberry Pancake Sunday Morning
If you happen to see Carter in the next few days, rest assured that the blue spots on his arms and legs aren't bruises, just blueberry juice stains...

Regular Day At The Beach
Mimi and I were both off work today so we decided to head to the beach to celebrate Mimi's birthday and Carter turning10 months old. Cape Henlopen State Park is a little more than 2 hours east and it allows dogs!
It was a day of firsts for Carter. He had his first lick of an ice cream cone, and ... he liked it.

He had his first meal of sand, which he found surprisingly tasty.
He had his first swim in the ocean, which was a little cooler than he would have preferred.
Shaylie got to work on her rocket dog routine.
And how about that swim diaper?!? Wish I had one.

10 Months! -or- Ninja Baby
Sorry for the long silence. It seems like every day is exhausting. By the time the little guy goes to bed, it's all Brian and I can do to sit on the couch and waste a little time on the interwebz or fold laundry before our own bedtime. Is it bad to want to go to sleep at 8pm?
The little guy turns 10 months tomorrow! Changes that we have poorly documented on this here blog include: one tooth as seen (if you look very hard) below -
And he can't get enough of standing with some support, preferably playing with some blocks or books:
He's taken a few tumbles:
But nothing serious.
Our daycare provider tells us he is crawling around, but we only ever see him scoot. But however he gets places, he goes FAST. And sneaky-like. This morning, I put him down in the middle of the living room floor, turned around into the kitchen to pour the coffee and by the time I came back, he had gone straight for the AC vent behind one of our chairs. Perhaps he'll go into HVAC repair when he's older - there's good money in that, right?
And he still likes to go swimming with his Dad most days after daycare. His vocalizations are getting a little more "speech-like" in the tones and cadences. My favorite is when he first wakes up in the morning, and just sort of coos to himself in the crib. He's a cheerful little guy all around and I feel pretty lucky that he's such a laid-back baby. Happy 10 months, Carter!

He's big into being in the same room with whomever is in charge (Marnie in the kitchen):
