Weekend Road Trip

We took a road trip up to Baldwinsville over the Easter weekend to join in (Great) Grammy and Grandpa's 60th wedding anniversary celebration.  I'm glad to report that the little guy slept nearly the whole way, both ways!  It was great to spend so much time with family, and Carter had no shortage of laps to cuddle in.

Thanks to Sarah, we have a bunch of really great pictures to share:

Thank you Sarah!

No joke!

Carter's abs are stoked!

He can't pull himself to sitting or anything, but once he gets propped up...

He can hold it...

For a few seconds....

Happy Half Birthday Little Guy!

We had a long busy day.  There was a post breakfast nap and lots of morning play time.  There was watching Mom up on the ladder doing "home improvement demolition." There was a visit to Kyle, Michelle, Lena, and Sadie's house for ribs.  And finally, there was play with clay at Nevan and Doug's studio.  (Clay ALL over!)  The clay wasn't as popular as you might think...

But best of all, Marni (Mitzi) is here and there has been lots of cuddling and playtime.

We have also been continuing down the solid food road.  I don't know if we're making much progress, but there are lots of good pictures.

 Frozen Sweet Potato!

It's been a great six months little guy.  We've loved getting to know you and can't wait to see who you become in the next six.

April Fools

Ok, so Carter isn't really walking yet.  He doesn't even roll over.  We also don't give him beer, what kind of parents do you think we are?   On second thought, please don't post any comments on that topic.

The process of making the video from yesterday is worthy of another post though.  We tried a few different methods.   As you can see below, the "hide behind" method was a little too obvious.

There were also some face-plants along the way, which is probably all a part of learning to walk.  Even Shaylie was concerned.

So, what we posted yesterday was a cropped version of this video.
(Sorry to those of you on iOS and mobile devices who can't see the videos.  We will be looking into a way to post video in a more mobile-friendly format.)

Carter has been a little sick again, but he's a trooper and stays in good spirits most of the time.  He has really been rocking the tummy time recently and that's been pretty fun.
He's also very into his feet.  He loves to grab the toes, especially the left ones.

Finally, we went to a baby consignment sale today and picked up some new toys and books.  We came home with a bouncy-activity-thing which he seems to really like.  He's not quite heavy enough to really touch the ground and get bouncing yet, but I'm sure that will come all too soon.

First Steps! (and Other Milestones)

Yes, you read that correctly.  It really surprised us, we just looked up and there he was, standing next to the coffee table, shuffling towards his pacifier.  Luckily, Mimi had the good sense to grab her phone and shoot some video.    We always knew he would be a quick learner, but we never imagined that he would walk before 6 months...  Way to go little guy!

In other news, Carter has managed to start holding his own bottle.  As it turns out, he doesn't mind holding his bottle at all, just as long as it has the right stuff in it.   What is the right stuff?  Well, he appears to have quite a well developed palate and prefers Hoptober from New Belgium Brewery.

Another hop head like Dad.  So cute.
